F-14B Tomcat "VF-154 Black Knights"

The american company Merit has released in cooperation with JSI a F-14B Tomcat of the VF-154 "Black Knights" in a Limited Edition of only 888 pieces.

It comes with new weapons and lights! As if the new paint sheme wouldn't be enough for most collectors, the new weapons and the additional lights make this a beautyful collectors item of high value! After having the customers treated with goose bumps and stripes this is a relief for all treatments by JSI! So this is a totaly overhouled B-Version which mostly shows in weapons.

So as if this wasn't enough the model too got lights, which let it light up like a christmas tree. Well it's not that hard, but the effect gives the whole model a kind of life. So position lights work, cockpit interior is lit and also the exhaust glooms like the real thing!
Unfortunately this aircraft is still missing a piloting crew. Seems at JSI there is nobody to be found to change this lack of crewmen until now!

We will get only a small number of models at all and most are already sold to collectors that had ordered the other F-14s before, too. So this was our christmas special for them. We will get some extra probably.

The F-14B Tomcat inthe colors of VF-154 "Black Knights" as it was on duty on the CVN USS Kitty Hawk.

Lights show less on this picture. They are located at the position lights, in cockpit and engine outlet. Also the IR sensor under the nose is lighted!

The model is the same in construction as the ones before, except for the weapons set included!
Where the weapons are located shows this picture quite well. Not shown are the locations of the GBU-24 guided bombs, because the can be installed instead of the GBU-16s!


Here a look on the new box. The size is still the same!	The first look offers not much news here...

...but some details are obvious. Dte radardish is seperate packed as well as the hook!	Also protected by beeing packed seperately are the tiny parts!

Much better is the less aged surface. How needs it dirty and wild may lay hands on himself!	More to be changed even here!

The sign of " The Knights".	Laser Guided Bombs of typ GBU-16, with movable fins.

Even the guiding unit ishigly detailed and movable! Thes GBU-24s can be interchaned wit the GBU-16s.	For guiding the bombs a Laser Marker typ AN/AAQ-14 LANTIRN Pod is needed. Her as a semi finished and finished part. Only one Pod is included!

External tank and always liked air to air missile of typ AIM-9 Side Winder.	To prevent damage while opening the instruction for the landing gear is now included and a sticker protects the doors too!

Model Discription

This model is the top of what was produced in 1/18 scale models ever!
The moving wings open up to over 1m of wingspan and are only the first highlight! The model measures 1.05m from the pitot to the tail! Besides opening radar nose with dish, the jetengine housings has a front an rear fan installed. All airbrakes can be opened and the supersonic stabilizer too.

The highly detailed landing gear has spring schock absorbers, which let the model settle like the real thing to the landingear. It is made true to the original in most functions and can be folded to the landing gear box! Hereby the wheels rotate by 90°.
The landing gear flaps can be opend and closed by hand. This asks for some care and studying of the additional assembly instruction we provide with this model! The tires are made of rubber too.

The cockpit is highly detailed and painted. Also the steps for the pilots entry are flapable on the side of the front fuselage! The canopy also opens. The hook comes down and the rudders are turnable.

The model comes with a complet set of armament including 2 external fueltanks, 4 AIM-54 Phoenix, 2 AIM-9 Sidewinder and 2 AIM-7 Sparrow rockets. All insignia, warning signs and maintenance stickers are printed on! Also on the tanks and rockets!! The elevators and the wings are turnable, which can be driven from parking position to slow flight maximum elevation.

The colors show the VF-84 "Jolly Rogers" as flown during the first Gulf War in 1991. Here the older main paintjob was temporarily covered with a goose bumps like sprinkle of dark gray spots with light gray/white inner spots. This was a kind of first aid camo which was changed later on into a Low-Visability Camo consisting of several gray colors.

Included also is a information booklet on the F-14 and the Jolly Rogers squadrons. Which is written in English.

The model comes in a black box with handle, which is again wrapped in plastic and packed into a cardboard box. The inner box has two tablets where all parts are placed in a foam material to prevent damage. None the less some care is recommended when unwrapping the parts! We don't cover any broken off parts!

The inner box can be used for storing the model too. But only in disassembled condition! The complete assembly is done by snap fit and no tools or glue is needed.

We ship the model in the original package box, which has 8.3kg of weight!

Also we include an additional instruction to the model, which contains information on the landing gear assembly and some addditional hints!
