Facts on the

|
The SC
2500 was the largest bomb used by the German Luftwaffe during WWII.
Only few data and pictures could be collected jet on this extreme heavy
bomb. According to these data we could transform the SC 2500 to a resin
cast modelkit in 48 scale and release it soon!
The kit contains the parts needed to build the SC2500 with its unique
transportation sled.

The
SC 2500 could only be lifted by a few aircraft of the Luftwaffe and was
mostly used against ships. How many bombs were used and for which
targets or missions is subject of our research at the moment.
According to the b/W Fotos known the bomb was painted in a light gray
(maybe RLM 02/1). It has a stripe painted on between the fins which is
probably RLM 04 yellow.
The sled on which the bomb was transported, has a towing support on the
front and two wooden wheels that could be removed on demand. The bomb
was fixed to the sled by two wooden yokes which where held by steel
struts that were fixt to the sled with a nut.
The struts went through the sled bars and were fixed with another nut
on the inside. The opposite end went through a hole in the yoke and was
held down by a washer and a nut.
The wheels could be removed by taking out a splint and by this
made moving the sled in heavy terrain easy. For fast transportation on
the street the wheels where used.
At the sides of the sled a probably red sign can be seen, that shows
the maximum speed allowed, which is limited to 10km/h.
